Judo is so much more than just a sport and martial art. It is an activity that creates a special place (the dojo) for people of all walks of life to come together and train hard to makes themselves better both physically and psychologically. The comradery that judo creates is similar to that seen in rugby teams. We train hard with each other and push each other to test our limits and this is what makes us all strong friends off the mat.
The beauty in achieving great progression in one’s judo career can only fully be felt through the fuller experience of knowing that there is a judo family that exists to support this development. This family is an important part of having a place to call “home” when you train – a place that you can go to in times of stress, in times of happiness, and in times of sorrow. We are all here to support each other and this element of togetherness is greatly encouraged.
